Berklee College to Host SXSW Parties

The Berklee College of Music is hosting two public events at the SXSW Music and Media Conference in Austin. On Friday, March 18, Berklee will host its Sixth Annual Official SXSW Party.

Berklee’s Party at the Lucky Lounge on Thursday, March 17, will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. Performances by Berklee alumni and students will take place.
Location: 209A West 5th Street.
Details: 21+, open to the public and free of charge. Artists include:

Pop group Royal Forest
Indie pop artist Teletextile
Pop/rock quintet Tucker Jameson & the Hot Mugs
Loop scientist Julia Easterlin
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Emily Elbert
Psychedelic string soul band The Boston Boys
Roots/jazz/swing quarter The Jitterbug Vipers

The Friday party will feature Berklee, Berkleemusic.com, and Heavy Rotation Records alumni and students.

Heavy Rotation Records provides music business/management majors at Berklee hands-on experience with running a record company. The label’s next release, Under the Influence, features Berklee students and alumni paying tribute to some of rock’s biggest names, coupled with covers of the bands that influenced them.

Michelle Rick: I like Pop Rocks, and believe your life is incomplete if you've never seen Forrest Gump. I recently saw the Counting Crows live, for free, and it was not good. I was supposed to interview David Hasselhoff once but he never showed. And I love the band that was once Oasis.
