SXSW now has wristbands on sale to Austin residents only (2 per person) for a price of $165. Basically this is how it works: you can only buy these wristbands online with a credit card that has a ATX billing zipcode, or a limited surrounding area zipcode. You may purchase one for a friend as well, they do not have to be an ATX resident, but make sure they will actually be able to make it as the names are non-transferable.
What do these get you into?
Entry with a wristband is never guaranteed because badge holders get in first, and once everything is at capacity that’s that. Really though, this usually isn’t an issue and you will probably get into a large majority of the shows you want to get into by flashing your wristband, just maybe not the really reaaaally big shows at the larger venues (i.e. Stubb’s).
Get on this! This price is only good for 2000 wristbands, and then it will continue to go up to the non-discounted price of $200 come festival time. For out of towners, if you have ATX friends, milk them! These will go fast. See you there! Can’t wait.
