Arcade Fire Takes Top Honors at The 53rd Grammy Awards

The results are in! The most comprehensive and valuable awards that the music industry has to offer were awarded last night!

Arcade Fire came in first with the highly prestigious Album of the Year Award! Its been a long time coming considering that Arcade Fire has been shafted at every prior Grammy Awards.

Another great underdog story coming out of this years Grammys is Esperanza Spalding. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) has recognized them as the Best New Artist of the Year. This is the first time a Jazz Musician has taken home this award in the history of the Grammys.

Along with all these exciting new comers on the winning podium there was also a legendary musical talent rounding out the action. Paul McCartney, the once Beatle, now solo-artist has added brand new statue for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance to his collection of accolades. He won it for the live version of Helter Skelter from his legendary 3-night stand at New York City’s Citi Field back in 2009.

DJ Danger Mouse, after being nominated the last 5 years in a row finally took home the Grammy for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical. Last year Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) teamed-up with James Mercer, of The Shins, and created Broken Bells. He is already a front runner for the 54th Grammy Awards considering that in 2011 Danger Mouse plans to release Rome, an album that will feature collaborations from Jack White, Norah Jones, and Composer/Arranger Daniele Luppi.

Them Crooked Vultures are the one last underdog left to recognize. The band took home their first Grammy in the form of Best Hard Rock Performance for “New Fang”. It is perhaps going too far to call this band underdogs. Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones are veterans here, but it is Joshua Homme’s first Grammy Award. This super group is currently on a hiatus due to the busy lives of its members.

There will be plenty more coverage of the 53rd Grammy Awards as everyone begins to soak it all up  and reflect upon this monumental event.
