While on stage tonight at the Echoplex in Los Angeles Monotonix made surprising announcement. The band’s lead singer Ami Shalev revealed that this current tour would be their last. He told the emphatic crowd that they were “wise” for attending as this current 12-date tour were the final shows they would play as a band. He went on to detail that they were calling it quits as the result of needing to be with their families, he stated he was “46 years old” and that their drummer Haggai Fershtman was about to see his first child born, adding they had “toured for 6 years nonstop.” The crowd was elated throughout the show as the band rambunctiously ran from spot-to-spot in the venue. Portions of the show were also filmed for an upcoming video. Monotonix’s most recent album Not Yet came out just two days ago on January 25th.
For those unfamiliar, Monotonix wowed us at both SXSW and the Treasure Island music festivals. There live show was a chaotic mix of crowd participation and calamity unlike most band touring in music right now.
