It’s been five years since the Strokes’ last release, First Impressions of Earth, and guitarist Nick Valensi feels that such a big gap in between albums is likely to have negative affects on the new album, Angles. To Valensi’s mind, the new album will fail to live up to expectations because fans will be demanding much from a band that’s been away from the scene for too long. Valensi said, “I feel like it’s gonna be impossible for us to make music that’ll live up five years of nothing. It’s kind of that ‘Chinese Democracy’ syndrome. You take that much time off … no matter what you do it’s not gonna be as good as people want it to be.” Decide for yourself when the album drops on March 21st.
