The Horrors Frontman Forms New Duo Cat’s Eyes, Plays at the Vatican

Faris Badwan is known as the singer for British psychedelic rock group The Horrors (XL Recordings), which makes his recent feat all the more impressive – playing with his new duo Cat’s Eyes at St. Peter’s in the Vatican.

Cat’s Eyes is made up of Badwan and Rachel Zeffira, a Canadian opera soprano and classical multi-instrumentalist based in London. The group’s debut eponymous album is set for release on May 3 on Cooperative Music USA/Downtown Records. The album was recorded RealWorld Studios with producer Steve Osborne.

The band’s first live performance, veiled in a welcome bit of mystery, happened in December at St. Peter’s in the Vatican, where they performed version of their song “I Knew It Was Over” during an afternoon mass that was attended by several high-ranking cardinals.
