This Just In: The Strokes Confirm Fourth Album Release Date For March

Bassist Nikolai Fraiture recently spoke on behalf of his band, The Strokes, and at last, revealed the approximate release date for their long-awaited fourth studio album.  March 2011 is the anticipated release date for the upcoming album.

The release date was dropped during a BBC interview.  The album’s status?  Finished, and currently being mixed.  During the interview, Fraiture also noted that the new album would resemble the band’s “classic sound.”  He also admits that this album would have fit more appropriately between 2003’s Room On Fire and 2006’s First Impressions of the Earth.

Possibly the most pivotal moment of the interview is when Fraiture is asked about the band’s 2010 festival performances and their lack of new material.  In reply, Fraiture explains, “We didn’t really want to play anything new because in the age of the internet we didn’t want the new songs to be heard in a crappy way.”

Stay tuned for all things The Strokes and their highly anticipated upcoming album, which remains untitled for now.
