Sonic Youth‘s Thurston Moore has recently leaked some details on his upcoming solo album, Benediction.
Philadelphia is being showered with exciting news on upcoming solo project coming from Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore.
First, Thurston Moore drops the exciting hints about his new album while speaking to Philadelphia Weekly, with emphasis on Beck‘s involvement in the record.
“It’s called Benediction, recorded in Southern California at Beck’s home studio with him producing. Beck sings and plays a little bit on it. Samara and Mary both play on it quite extensively and very, very beautifully. Beck really put them through the paces.”
Harpist Mary Lattimore reveals further details in an interview with Philly Daily News, talking mainly about how much Moore allowed Beck to step in and get creative. She said they had “loads of freedom” and “[the band] had good ideas that enhanced them.”
Sadly, the only other details we know on Benediction is its predicted release in early 2011. While you patiently wait for upcoming details, take a few steps down memory lane and check out the last interaction between Thurston Moore and Beck, an interview dated from 1994.
