R.E.M. Release New Christmas Song, Instrumental Mash-Up of New Tracks

R.E.M. (Warner Bros.) have new album out called Collapse Into Now coming out in the spring, but that hasn’t stopped them from continuing a tradition of releasing a Christmas song every year to their fan club. Check out the track – and a mash-up of instrumental takes of new songs – below the jump.

This year, the group has covered the 1963 song “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love. Michael Stipe is absent, but Mike Mills fills in on vox. Also featured: Scott McCaughey of The Minus 5 and original R.E.M. drummer BIll Berry on the kit. Check out the track below!

In addition, the group has released a mash-up of instrumental takes of three songs from Collapse Into Now -“Uberlin,” “Every Day Is Yours to Win,” and “Happened Today,” which features Eddie Van Halen. Check out that below!
