Mute has announced that it will now unite its record label, publishing company, and new management company.
Since Mute has become independent again from EMI, company leader Daniel Miller has said “I am excited about this new phase in our development. The things we value most – our relationships with artists and our desire to embrace new ideas and ways of working – can now be fully realised in a structure I have been aiming towards for some time. This is the ideal time and perfect opportunity to bring three key elements together under the Mute name”.
Angie Somerside will return to the company as Group MD. Not only will she be overseeing the record label and publishing company, but she will be launching the new management company as well. Being the former General Manager at QPrime Management UK, she will bring experience in music and marketing to Mute.
The first artists signing to the independent company are the London five-piece S.C.U.M, Texan singer-songwriter Josh T. Pearson and Junip, featuring José González, as the first artists to sign to the invigorated company.
