New Album from Beans

Brooklyn-based rapper Beans has titled his latest record End It All. The album, a follow-up to Thorns, features guest producers such as Four Tet, Clark, TOBACCO, Son Lux, and Interpol’s Sam Fog. End It All also comes at the heels of Flourescent Black, the fifth LP of Beans’ group Anti-Pop Consortium.

The album’s biggest challenge comes from “Blue Movie,” a Son Lux production that exchanges lush orchestral bursts and fuzzy drum pileups. Beans’ vocals shine in the song’s maximal style, and that’s just the beginning. From the live clatter of Sam Fog’s “Electric Bitch” to the character study within Four Tet’s “Anvil Falling,” Beans and his guests deliver. End It All burns through 13 tracks in 33 minutes, it’s only during “Mellow You Out” that Beans allows his listener to unwind.

Michelle Rick: I like Pop Rocks, and believe your life is incomplete if you've never seen Forrest Gump. I recently saw the Counting Crows live, for free, and it was not good. I was supposed to interview David Hasselhoff once but he never showed. And I love the band that was once Oasis.
