Emo’s (outside stage)
$16 tickets
(Note: This is a rescheduled show, so if you’re still holding on to tickets from the old date, they will be honored at the door.)
I could go on for days about my love for music that boasts both female and male vocals. Although there’s many examples to be found in the indie rock world, you usually know what kind of sound to expect from the typical duo. This is not the case with Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re actually in love, or maybe they’re just intenstly musically in agreement about taste, or as it sounds, maybe it’s both.
This awesome collaboration finally released their first album under the Jenny and Johnny name earlier this year called I’m Having Fun Now. A highly appropriate tittle for what’s presented. A blended form of catchy pop that isn’t sappy, just breezy and bright, while still managing to fit in some darker moments, heavy feedback, and sarcastic wittiness. Both Vocalists compliment each other so well, whether supporting the other’s solo,or taking part in a back in forth banter. You can definitly feel the ease of their synced creative flow, possibly from both having hands in each other’s music project for the past five years, and it makes for a lively listen.
It’s a delight to see these guys live because you get a lot of different approaches from both artists with their respective solos and duets.
******If you can’t make this show or just want a double dose, they are also playing a free in-store set at Waterloo Records on the same day!
