Weezer fans have a lot of reasons to be happy lately – their band is playing classic albums Blue and Pinkerton in their entirety at upcoming shows, and there’s that deluxe edition of Pinkerton hitting the shelves November 2. Now the band’s sweetened the deal, announcing Philly power poppers Free Energy and California lo-fi queen Best Coast as openers for some of the Blue/Pinkerton shows.
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo took to Weezer’s official forum on their website to announce the news, adding “I love these bands!” Best Coast will handle the Los Angeles shows, while Free Energy will tackle both the Boston and New York shows. No word yet on who will open the San Francisco or Chicago shows.
