Friday October 8th
Mohawk Bar (both stages)
No tickets, its free! (get there early)
Bands with both male and female vocals present rock, and Mate of State are no exception. Husband and wife duo Jason Hammel and Korie Gardner mix playful and intense vocal ranges with an impressive wall of sound compromised of ever-shifting rhythm, dozens of keys, guitar, wild drums and everything else in the kitchen sink. Their songs are like lush rolling hills, with varying song structures working tightly together to create an upward and downward moving soundscape. Even with such an extensive list of ingredients, everything blends together perfectly to create beautiful, fizzy, smooth and pretty pop-indie rock. They are as fun live as the vibe of their music, and you can add catching them for free to your ACL activities to- do list this weekend!
Get there early! It’s expected to be a full house ((Sounder)) opens on the outside stage, and We Are Country Mice and Midgetmen play inside after Mates of State.
