Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson is suing concert promoter AEG Live, stating that they are responsible for her son’s death last June. Michael Jackson, who was planning a series of concerts in London with AEG to back them up financially, died of cardiac arrest in his home on June 25th, 2009. Mrs. Jackson claims that the company put its own financial gains ahead of the livelihood of her son and that they failed to provide adequate life-saving services to his home on the day of his death. The suit is also claiming that the company should have been responsible for overseeing Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor who famously gave Jackson the fatal concoction of pharmaceutical drugs. The suit cites that Jackson “was under the immediate care of a doctor selected by, hired by, and controlled by AEG.” However, AEG is claiming they had no part in the hiring of Dr. Murray, stating that Murray was Jackson’s longtime personal doctor and that they had no responsibility for Jackson’s medical services.
This comes after Michael Jackson’s father, Joseph Jackson, came out blaming his own wife for their son’s death. In June of this year, Mr. Jackson came out saying he had wanted to put his son into a rehab program due to his prescription drug habit. Katherine Jackson’s lawyers and advocates are saying that she had a “supporting and loving” relationship with her son.
