Los Angeles quartet Warpaint took to the main stage (the Redwood Stage) amidst the oppressive afternoon sun. The group is best described as a breezy and angular alt rock, reminiscent of the cleaner college rock of the 80’s. Think The xx if they had a bit more “oomph,” and you’ll be about there. The sound was tight and crisp though, as members Emily Kokal (vocals/guitar), Theresa Wayman (guitar/vocals), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass/vocals) and Stella Mozgawa (drums) did their best to stir up excitement in the crowd at the point in most festivals where there is no energy to be had.
