FYF Fest – Redwood Stage – !!!

In perhaps the worst conflict of the day, !!! (Chk Chk Chk for the unitiated) played at exactly the same time as Sleep. mxdwn had only one chance to cover !!! live and it was at Coachella 2004, where in spite of 100+ degree heat, they brought a sun-baked crowd to their feet and got them dancing. Happy to report, six years later, the story is no different. Lead singer Nic Offer fronts the seven-piece group with manic exuberance. Taking the funky backdrop to its logical extreme, the group quite simply just goes for it. They let themselves go for it, and whereas might seem overly contrived, they come off as the real deal.
