Following the tragic death of 15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez at the Electric Daisy Carnival, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has announced that it will temporarily be banning raves.Rodriguez, who had Ecstasy in her system when she died, passed out at the event – billed as North America’s largest dance event – and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead – despite added staff at local hospitals and other safety provisions. The U.S. Centers For Disease Control and Prevention has been investigating multiple instances of overdoses or deaths at raves in the past six months.
The curators of the Electric Daisy Carnival issued the following statement: “Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this difficult time,” the statement said. “We are currently reviewing the entire event and planning process with our security team, law enforcement and the city officials who participated in organizing and planning Electric Daisy Carnival.”
