Amanda Palmer To Release Donation-Based Radiohead Covers Ukulele EP

After gleefully departing from major label Roadrunner Records, Amanda Palmer is celebrating by releasing a self-produced EP of Radiohead covers on the ukulele. The album, Amanda Palmer Plays the Popular Hits of Radiohead on Her Magical Ukulele, will be available July 17th. Tracks include “Idioteque”, “Creep”, “No Surprises”, “High and Dry”, “Fake Plastic Trees” and more. In support of direct fan-to-artist communication, Palmer is making the album available for a donation of 84 cents or more – 54 cents will be going to Radiohead for the legal use of their songs.

“I’m slaphappy with freedom”, says Palmer, “and this is the perfect project to celebrate with. I’m really proud of the way this record wound up sounding…it’s actually a lot more emotional than I expected. Radiohead songs almost play themselves because the songwriting is so genius, and the ukulele is perfect for laying that genius bare. I tried to strip the songs down as far as possible without destroying them.”
