Gruff Rhys, lead singer and songwriter for Super Furry Animals, solo artist, and part of Neon Neon, has announced the release of his first documentary. Rhys has spent the last five years creating “Separado!” – detailing the adventure and road trip to search for Rhys’ long lost uncle, the guitarist Rene Griffiths. The film takes us on a tour of theaters, nightclubs, and desert tea houses of Wales, Brazil, and the Argentine Andes. The documentary premiers next month at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 24th and June 26th. The Mexican premiere will be at the Distrital Film Festival in Mexico City on June 3rd.
Also, the limited edition digital album, The Terror of Cosmic Loneliness, will be released July 26th via OVNI/Turnstile Records. This collaborative album between Gruff Rhys and Brazilian legend Tony Da Gatorra was recorded in San Paulo and parts of the recording process are featured in “Separado!”
