New York noise punks Liars debuted a video today for the second single off of their current album Sisterworld entitled “The Overachievers.” The video, directed by Liars guitarist Aaron Hemphill, depicts “a hyper realistic portrayal of the young and unaffected living in LA” according to Liars vocalist Angus Andrew.
In a press release put out by the band, Hemphill had this to say about the video:
“I wanted to edit against the tempo of the song and have a slower pace of cuts, longer shots, and scenes that traverse the verse and chorus. By doing this, I hoped to camouflage the tempo of the song so that the viewer is left with the lyrics and the images. Hopefully, the darkness and disconnection that lies deeper in the subjects of The Overachievers can be questioned again by the listener/viewer without too much being answered by the video,”
The video can be seen here.
