Almost thirty minutes late, Wale finally took the stage sporting the standard DJ/hype man configuration. This was unusually bad. Wale served up a set of glorified hip hop karaoke, rapping over M.I.A. and eventually even Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody.” Yelling louder than the mix was PA’d for, this was an unfortune (and typical) live hip-hop mess.
