Street Sweeper Social Club – Coachella Stage

Indie snobs lighten up! Even though the crowd was sparse, Tom Morello and Boots Riley’s Street Sweeper Social Club were energetic and undaunted. Morello tweaked his axe with all the technical wizardy he’s known for while Riley rhymed and shouted with manic enthusiasm. Playing a cover of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” early on and then later playing “The Oath” and “Fight, Smash, Win,” SSSC brought the rock to Coachella was so sadly absent in so many of the last few years.
