After spending three solid months crafting, writing, editing and programming, The Octopus Project emerged here at the Whole Foods parking lot to debut a special concept project entitled “Hexadecagon.” Hexadecagon’s performance utilized eight-channel surround sound and synchronized eight-channel projected video. The band performed in the round with the audience surrounding them. It’s hard to describe the experience, but suffice it to say, this was a show not to be missed. The Octopus Project showed the fruits of their three-month preparation layering live instrumentation of guitars, drums and bass with complex sequencing, sampling, even xylophones! The video array was a surrealist montage of epic proportions. Furry animals, costumed twins and environmental imagery. It has to be mentioned, the set featured some of the best theremin-playing any band has attempted in recent times. Hexadecagon was a special piece, filled with lush Pink Floyd-style epic instrumentals and indie flair, this is one show that everyone should see.
