More news was released Friday from the Mondo Cane camp, including a release date for Mike Patton’s highly anticipated album of orchestra-based early Italian pop covers.
Ipecac Recordings will release Mondo Cane’s self-titled album, Mondo Cane, on May 4. The album was recorded live at several European performances with Patton, known best as the front man for Faith No More, heading a 30-piece orchestra and choir. Mondo Cane will feature orchestra-based covers of Italian pop songs from the 1950s, 60s and 70s and has been highly anticipated since the project was announced in 2007.
The band got its start in 2007 when they played several gigs in Italy covering similar material.
