Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse has been pronounced dead, according to an article in Brooklyn Vegan via report in Rolling Stone. His family released a statement regarding his suicide, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and a star for you.”
It was announced earlier in the week that his project with Danger Mouse and director David Lynch, “Dark Night of the Soul,” had resolved its legal issues with EMI and was going to come out as originally intended. His publicist also confirmed he was nearly finished a new album with an anticipated release on Anti-Records.
