Rivers Cuomo Injured in Bus Crash/Raditude Tour Cancelled

Early morning on Sunday, December 6th, the tour bus carrying Rivers Cuomo, his wife, daughter, nanny, and assistant, lost control on a patch of black ice on the I-90 forty miles west of Albany, NY.  The bus skidded over the road, across the guard rail and into a 8-10 foot ravine on the side of the row.  Thanks to the actions of the driver, the bus did not flip or roll, but definitely could have been more disasterous.

Rivers Cuomo does not remember hitting anything in the back lounge while sleeping, but cracked 3 ribs, small punctures in his spleen and left lung, and hurting his lower leg.  He was transported to a larger hospital and is currently resting with surgery not being a likely course at the moment.  The puncture in the spleen has begun to heal and he is being monitored to ensure fluid does not build up in his lung.  The pain in his leg is actually from spraining his ankle at the show the night before.

His daughter and her nanny sustained no injuries and the child actually remained in the crib through the ordeal.  Rivers’ wife also walked away uninjured despite beginning thrown from an upper bunk.  Sarah, Rivers’ assistant was also on the upper bunk and was discharged from the hospital with 2 fractured ribs and a fractured lower vertebrae.

As a result, the rest of the December Raditude dates have been cancelled and no word about the January dates as of yet.  The band plans to post further information about the planned rescheduling of the dates, as well as ticket refunds, when it become available on their website.
