Bernard Sumner, the lead singer of New Order and guitarist of Joy Division, has embarked on a new project – Bad Lieutenant. Bad Lieutenant’s debut album, Never Cry Another Tear, is dropping on October 6th. Initially, the album will be available as a digital download for one week via amazon.com. Beginning on October 13th, the physical album will be available for purchase exclusively through Amazon, with the CD available in stores on November 10th.
With the first single, “Sink or Swim” downloadable for free on Bad Lieutenant’s website, the band’s second single, “Dynamo” will also be available digitally on September 28th.
“This album is very important to me,” says Sumner. “We’ve worked hard on it and I’m proud of it. It’s also important because it gives people the chance to hear a gifted new singer and guitar player who I think is really talented.” Featuring bassist Alex Jones (Blur) and drummer Stephen Morris (New Order and Joy Division) on the recording, the touring band will include Morris on drums and Tom Chapman on Bass.
