Coachella 2009 – Amanda Palmer

Flanked a by a group of painted fans, Amanda Palmer entered to the epic sounds of the most famous moment of 2001. As the painted fans lined up on the stage single file, they turned to reveal a letter painted on their back that spelled out A-M-A-N-D-A F-U-C-K-I-N-G P-A-L-M-E-R as the woman herself appeared behind them arms outstretched to the sky. Fans departed, Palmer hammered out her tunes with confidence and enigmatic charisma. Playing single “Oasis” and leisurely taking swigs of wine she joked with the audience on the vast difference in attitude between Leonard Cohen’s humble gratefulness and Morrissey’s prissy self-pity. She even did a flawless rendition her song from The Dresden Dolls, “Coin-Operated Boy.” Watch for this one, a new star is about to be born.
