With The Cure’s thirteenth album in the works with a planned release on Sunday, September 13th from Suretone/Geffen Records, the band announced a new plan to release their upcoming singles. On the thirteenth of each month until September, beginning on May 13th, The Cure will release a series of four A & B side singles to promote their yet-to-be titled album.
The May 13th release features the single “The Only One†with the b-side “NY Trip†and the June 13th release will have the single “Freakshow†with the b-side “All Kinds Of Stuff.†This will be the only opportunity to purchase the b-sides as they will not be on the studio album. (Additional details to come regarding the July 13th and August 13th singles).
The Cure is beginning their North American tour on May 9th in Washington D.C. at the Patriot Center – including their rescheduled fall dates from 2007. 65daysofstatic will be opening at all stops of the tour. The line-up is led by lead singer and guitarist Robert Smith, and includes long-time bass player Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper, and guitarist Porl Thompson, who is returning to the band for a third time.
