Hailed as one of the great forgotten masterpieces in the Beach Boys oeuvre, Dennis Wilson’s long out of print Pacific Ocean Blue will finally see a reissue, in deluxe edition form no less. Via Sundazed, it will be released as 2-disc set as well as vinyl.
Originally released in 1977, Pacific Ocean Blue was the first and, sadly only album to actually be released before the Beach Boys drummer’s untimely death in 1983.
Set to hit shelves May 13, disc 1 of this reissue will include the original 12-track album plus some bonus tracks still being sorted through by the label. Disc 2 will delight both pop archeologists and hardcore fans alike in its unearthing of tracks originally intended for Bambu, Wilson’s recorded, but never released follow-up to Blue. Included in the set will be liner notes by Beach Boys scholars as well as photos taken by Wilson’s friend and surf rock legend, Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean.http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003701480
