On September 26, the fabled Phil Spector murder case ended as a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury. In an ordeal that stretches back nearly five years, the end seemed to be nigh for the Wall of Sound innovator after five months of testimony. The first deliberation period saw the foreman report a 10-2 deadlock, but not the way it leaned. A 7-5 stalemate was reported last week after the jury had received revised instructions for their deliberation.
“At this time, I will find that the jury is unable to arrive at a verdict and declare a mistrial in this matter,” Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler stated.
