Amazon.com, in a landmark development, has launched it’s own digital music store, offering the largest selection of MP3 downloads with out Digital Rights Management protection on the web. The new site offers over 2 million songs from more than 180,000 artists and over 20,000 labels, all in 256 kilobits, a higher quality than even iTunes. The site also trumps iTunes in the pricing department, with many songs going for 89 cents as opposed to 99 and many albums, including the top 100 best-sellers, going for $8.99 or less.
