Velvet Underground legend Lou Reed will be the first act to perform at the HighLine Ballroom, a new Manhattan concert venue located in the Meatpacking District.
Named after an old West end elevated railway, the Ballroom seats up to 700 people and is scheduled to open its doors on April 30th. It will also host performances from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli in the months to come.
As for the Reed performance, a limited number of tickets will be sold to the public. Portions of each ticket sold will go to the “Friends of the High Line” charity, dedicated to preserving the High Line rail structure.
