Desmond Dekker, the man who brought ska to the masses in 1969 with his international hit song “Israelites,” died of a heart attack this past Thursday at his home in England. The success of “Israelites” opened the door for reggae and Bob Marley. Dekker had maintained a strong British following over the past thirty years and had a full summer European tour planned. He was 64.http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002576536
