CKY – An Answer Can Be Found

It’s No Jackass (Unfortunately)

It helps to have a famous younger brother, known for his skateboarding, riding around parking lots in shopping carts, and wreaking hell on his parents. If not for that, groups like CKY, and their new album An Answer Can Be Found, would never see the light of day. If CKY’s new album was worthwhile, then it wouldn’t matter who Jess Margera’s older brother was. As it stands though, there are two good things about An Answer Can Be Found. The first is the track “Behind The Scenes,” an acoustic song that is beautifully played and at times sounds similar to the beginning of Metallica’s classic “To Live Is To Die.” Other than that, there is not much to this album worth listening to. It’s a shame, when their previous outings were better and much more intense than this.

The other tracks on this album are boring, with drumming that at times sounds unintentionally off tempo, vocals that tend to bore the listener, and an overall style that sounds like it should have ended in the mid 90’s, along with so many bad grunge bands.
The last tracks on the album, “Sniped” and “Don’t Hold Your Breath,” while different than the rest of the album (“Sniped” a scream-y pseudo-metal track along the lines of Korn, and “Don’t Hold Your Breath” being a sappy ballad), don’t do anything to change the overall quality of the album, it’s still terrible.

While Don Vito and Ryan Dunn may be headlining the stupidest tour ever, it’s at least entertaining. CKY’s new effort would be better off destroyed by a bulldozer, a crane or some other large mechanical object.
