Golden Vampires of Politics
Do you like your music Loud and Noisy? Then Curse of the Golden Vampire’s new album “Mass Destruction” is just the thing you’ve been looking for. Curse of the Golden Vampire is a spin-off project of Techno Animal’s Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin. Just Broadrick made his name with pioneering Heavy Metal masters Napalm Death and Industrial heavyweights Godflesh while Kevin Martin fronted the experimental band God. The two have collaborated over several years on numerous eclectic projects until they originally formed Curse of the Golden Vampire with Atari Teenage Riot Digital Hardcore veteran Alec Empire.Vampire’s second release is a far cry from the first (Empire has left the group) and instead of the noisy, chaotic electronica of the first album, Mass Destruction finds them in full-tilt overdrive psycho-metal fury. Imagine what a blast beat Crust Punk band might sound like if they really loved drum machines. The result is an overwhelming monstrosity. The band screams their way through fifteen brain screwing tracks titled such as “United Snakes of America” and “The Myth of Democracy” implying a hardline political vision. However, odds are you won’t be able to decipher too much of a manifesto as Curse of the Golden Vampire is fully concerned with blowing your ears off.
