There’s a certain camaraderie between bands straight out of Chicago and their dedicated hometown fans. One of the newest success stories to come out of the city we love and know, the Orwells, have decided to not only play a show for us, but make it a two-night music extravaganza. They have asked a couple of remarkably talented bands to play alongside them: The Symposium, Post Animal, and Joe Bordenaro and The Late Bloomers.
The Orwells have a unique garage band sound that can only develop when you’re living in the bland suburbia that surrounds Chicago. Each song, especially off of their second album Disgraceland, presents the realities of being a teenager, being in love, and dealing with the shit that life throws you. They have cleverly named their music festival ‘Midwest Shitfest’ – because everyone knows it will be anything but that. Each band on the ticket puts on an insane live show and attending the gig will surely refresh your hometown pride.
If you’re unsure whether rock ‘n’ roll is dead or alive, be sure to stop by the Chop Shop. The Orwells will remind you that it is, in fact, alive and well – and as badass as ever. To see the four bands on the bill, you only need to dish out a $20 and the event is all ages, so bring the whole neighborhood!
