Japanese rock band BabyMetal have just released the new video for their song “KARATE,” and chances are it’s unlike anything you have ever seen before.
The video sees the teen trio partake in a Dragon Ball Z style fight scene, in which they battle frightening figures in a fight to the death. The scene flows perfectly with the heavy and distinctive track, which is the second single off the group’s upcoming sophomore effort, Metal Resistance. Loudwire describes the track as “undeniably catchy and charming, thanks to some fantastic instrumental work along with a chorus that’ll take your eardrums hostage for the foreseeable future.”
The video for “KARATE” is not something you see every day. It features skull-faced foes, epic dance moves and the mix of J-Pop and metal that BabyMetal made famous. The band members consist of Suzuka Nakamoto as “Su-metal”, Yui Mizuno as “Yuimetal”, and Moa Kikuchi as “Moametal”. Their unique sound, style and substance has made them a musical phenomenon around the world.
Babymetal announced in January that the follow-up to 2014’s self-titled debut would be released on April 1. This has been declared “Fox Day,” by their fans, as the group will not only release Metal Resistance but play a grand show at the legendary Tokyo Dome.
