Bob Dylan announced this week that he will be releasing his 37th album. And this summer, the folk-rock legend will hit the road in support of the new release. The tour will also showcase another legend, Mavis Staples as opener. You can catch Dylan and Staples on July 13th at The Mann.
Of course, Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples share a long history together. The pair have worked together professionally in the past, and were even nominated for a Grammy back in 2003 for “Gotta Change My Way of Thinking.” But they also dated. Staples revealed in her 2015 documentary Mavis! that Dylan had once proposed, but she turned him down because she felt she was too young. But still, the pair remained friends, and continued to work together over the years. She said, “I often think about what would have happened if I’d married Bobby, though. If we’d had some little plum-crushers, how our lives would be. The kids would be singing now, and Bobby and I would be holding each other up.”
And hold each other up they will this summer as they embark on their extensive summer tour. Tickets for the Mann Center show are currently on sale, so grab yours now!
