Marissa Nadler has released a single Janie In Love for her upcoming album. The album Strangers is set to be released on May 20th through Sacred Bones Records and Bella Union. Produced by Randall Dunn, this will be her 7th full length albumeven though she has only been in the Music business since 2000.
Her Single, Janie in Love is rich in texture and comparable to some of Lena Del Rays greatest hits. “Her elegant voice spins acoustic, generally doom-laden narratives of heartache and loss, which sound as if they’re being sung by a really bereaved ghost” said Pitchfork.
Her music is so unique not one genre can capture it. Many consider it to be indie rock, folk, dream pop, singer/songwriter and ambient. Even in this single her music features acoustic themes with ambient noises in the background and a rich whimsical vocal set all throughout.
Marissa is originally from Boston and grew up painting and practicing music taught by her family and her own curiosity and motivation. She began to write songs in high school and went to college to further her painting. Then after college, she went to work in the visual arts field mostly teaching and exploring different techniques. All the while she kept up with her music, performing at open mic nights in college and eventually recording her first Album in 2002 Autumn Rose.
