Taking a cue from the amiable rural rock of the Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, and First Aid Kit, Dublin five-piece Little Green Cars offer up an Emerald Isle take on Americana, employing generous five-part harmonies over a bed of R.E.M., Fleetwood Mac, and Woody Guthrie-inspired country-folk-pop goodness. Formed in 2008 around the talents of Stevie Appleby, Faye O’Rourke, Adam O’Regan, Donagh Seaver O’Leary, and Dylan Lynch, the band experimented with numerous styles and wrote a mountain of material before inking a deal with Glassnote and heading into the studio with producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Björk) to record its 2013 debut album, Absolute Zero.
The first single since Absolute Zero, “The Song They Play Every Night”, was released early this year. Make sure to see them on their tour coming through Austin on April 11.
