The Airborne Toxic Event is an indie rock band from California. The group began through vocalist Mikel Jollett in 2006 as he went through a series of traumatic events. With the pain, he wrote lyrics to express and overcome the hard times. He then recruited drummer Daren Taylor and violinist Anna Bulbrook to form what is now a five-person band. With widespread travel and international tours, the group is now signed to Epic Records and has written over five studio albums.
Their career as a band started with a self-titled album placing in charts around the globe. This debut record also spent a total of 8 weeks as #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. This caught the attention of music lovers and quickly skyrocketed the group’s advancement in the industry. The band released two remarkable new albums in the beginning of 2015 alone, Dope Machines and Sons of God and Whiskey. The music in these refreshing records display the versatility the group incorporates in their songs. “We’re kind of genre-less. I think we play lots of styles of music… We’re musicians in the purest sense in that we’re not stuck to a genre. We just like music. If we liked polka, we’d probably play polka,” Jollett says.
With high success and craze from fans, the band offers thrilling performances by using a variety of instruments. The Airborne Toxic Event has announced the dates for their highly anticipated tour across the country in the fall.
