Two drummers are gathering their forces together for an exciting new record set to hit store shelves very soon.
Greg Saunier, the drummer for Deerhoof, and Brian Chippendale, the drummer for Lightning Bolt are teaming up to record an exciting new album which will be out very soon. Very little has been going on in both of the respective drummers’ groups, with Lightning Bolt recently releasing their new record Oblivion Hunter, and Oblivion participating in a multi-artist compilation record. Saunier himself also recently teamed up with Sean Lennon to form a new band, the record from that collaboration set to release in January.
Saunier and Chippendale’s new LP will be released on an electric blue vinyl record and will feature two side-long improvisations. The solos were recorded live at Death by Audio roughly a year and a half ago. Both Saunier and Chippendale are also taking part in a documentary titled Checking In At 20. The documentary catches up on the two drummers twenty years into their respective careers. The documentary is already viewable on Pitchfork, and the duo record will be released on December 15. The vinyl edition of the record will feature a download code and a video of Saunier and Chippendale performing in studio in addition to the video for Checking In At 20.
