The Rage Against the Machine frontman joined Run The Jewels on stage at the Echoplex in Los Angeles Thursday night. Zack de la Rocha performed “Close Your Eyes And Count To Fuck,” which he collaborated with Run The Jewels on for their latest album.
Fans of Run The Jewels got the performance of a lifetime Thursday night when they were joined by a music legend. Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine took the stage in front of an enormous crowd at Los Angeles’ Echoplex. Travis Barker also joined the duo for an impromptu performance.
De la Rocha’s appearance was unexpected, but not completely off-the-wall. He recently collaborated with the hip-hop team on their latest record Run The Jewels 2. De la Rocha’s work on this record also came as a bit of a surprise to fans, since he hadn’t made much in the way of new music since 2008.
Now, Zack de la Rocha is back in a big way.
“Close Your Eyes And Count To Fuck” has all of the politically-charged vigor that’s made this frontman formidable in the music world. With lyrics like “We will burn this motherfucker down if shit don’t change,” it’s the perfect song for a packed and energetic crowd.

The show was part of their stint at Red Bull’s 30 Days in LA. Run The Jewels are part of day 13 of the event. It features 30 days of performances from 60 artists. Some of the artists who have recently performed for the event include Bad Religion, Warpaint, Wax on Wax and Night Drive.
When they’re not introducing famous singers to unsuspecting crowds, Run The Jewels have been hard at work with a new album and a remix of that album featuring cats.
With the duo’s track record, fans shouldn’t be surprised about anything they do. They broke the formula again last month when they decided to release their latest work a full four days before the official scheduled release date.
