Damon Albarn announced new possible Gorillaz and the Good The Bad & The Queen albums. During an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Albarn confirmed that the Good The Bad & The Queen album is written and waiting to be recorded. As for the new Gorillaz album, Albarn simply said that he hopes to put out an album in 2016.
During the full interview, Albarn mentioned that his music is going through a transitional phase. As a result, his music takes on various emotions as he continues to sing about topics relevant to today.
Albarn, who has become very busy with a number of projects, stated that his biggest issue with taking on new projects is finding the time to accomplish everything. He went on to explain that was why the Good The Bad & The Queen album was written, but not yet recorded due to lack of time to do so.
As for the Gorillaz, when Albarn first announced the possibility of a Gorillaz album, he also mentioned he has recorded a good deal of material for the project to put together a new album. Gorillaz has been wildly successful project. In 2010 the album Plastic Beach was crowned mxdwn’s album of the year. Additionally in 2012 Gorillaz “Do Ya Thing” featuring James Murphy and Andree 3000 was earned spot 4 on the mxdwn “Top 40 Songs of 2012”.
Other projects Albarn has worked on recently includes the release of his solo album, Everyday Robots. The album took many by surprise as fans are so used to him working with various artists as opposed to working alone. Additionally, work on the ongoing Blur album project that Albarn says may never be released.
