Slowdive formed way back in 1989 in Reading, England. They would sign to Creation Records and release three albums. Amid creative differenced, Simon Scott, the drummer for the band, left in 1994. He was replaced and Slowdive went on to release Pygmalion They were dropped from their label a week after the album’s release. The remaining band members recorded an album of country-influenced tracks and changed their name to Mojave 3 in an effort to reflect the new direction they were taking.
But in January of this year, a Slowdive Twitter account popped up, and fans were hopeful that this meant a reunion was imminent. Later that month, they announced that they had in fact reunited and would be playing at various festivals throughout Europe and the US. And now comes the exciting news that they will be headed out on a tour of North America this fall. The band will arrive here in Philly this October with a stop at Union Transfer. You can catch them on October 23rd.
Providing support for Slowdive at their upcoming show will be Low, a band from Minnesota. They formed back in 1993 and have developed what they refer to as a “slow, quiet, sometimes melancholy” sound. They released The Invisible Way in 2013, their tenth full-length to date. Catch them when they open for Slowdive on 10/23!
