Hometown heroes Dr. Dog will be making their triumphant return to Philly for a very special performance at The Mann this fall! They guys will be performing on the Skyline Stage on September 13th. Join them, as well as special guests Mac DeMarco, The Front Bottoms, and Hop Along. The event, being dubbed Lawn of Mann, is on sale now. Hurry up and get your tickets now, as Dr. Dog is using a tiered pricing system.
Their most recent release, B-Room, dropped in October of last year. It marks the band’s 8th album, and third release on their current label. It was also the first album to be recorded in their new studio. Fans were likely a bit disappointed to hear that the band would be playing at LA’s version of Made in America this September. So the news that they will be headed home just a few weeks later is very exciting!
At this point, we should all know Dr. Dog. But what about the openers? First up is Hop Along, who also hail from Philly. The band originally formed in 2004 as a solo project, but would eventually add a few other members to the lineup. Their last full-length, Disowned, was released in 2012. Next up are The Front Bottoms, coming to us all the way from Jersey. The band formed in 2007, and released their first album in 2008. In June of this year, The Front Bottoms released the Rose EP. They were here in Philly performing with Say Anything just last week. They also played the Skate Park Stage at last year’s Made in America.
And finally, we have Mac DeMarco, the only one not from the tri-state. DeMarco hails from Canada. In 2011, he moved to Montreal and began work as a solo artist. In 2012, he released his Rock and Roll Nightclub EP. The work was impressive enough to lead to a full-length, which he called 2. His 2014 release, Salad Days, was one of the most anticipated albums of this year. It dropped in April and DeMarco says, “I didn’t want to freak anybody out with a huge sound change. I wanted to transition without changing the vibe too much.” Check out Mac DeMarco, The Front Bottoms, and Hop Along when they open for Dr. Dog this September!
