Spoon is back in action and will soon be releasing They Want My Soul, their 8th full-length and first since 2010’s Transference. To hype their anxious fans further, they’ve been playing a handful of new songs at recent shows, including one they reserved for NPRMusic’s Live in Concert series this week, “Rent I Pay”.
The Austin gentlemen have delivered new tracks “Knock Knock Knock” and “Rainy Taxi” to crowds in Barcelona and NYC, respectively, and both come off as quintessential Spoon. Indie rock at its finest.
“Rent I Pay” echoes that sentiment, with lead singer Britt Daniel still flawlessly pulling his vocals out from the bottom of his gut while the band strums and drums their way through effortless rock ‘n’ roll.
