The Muffs will be releasing Whoop Dee Doo, their first new album in 10 years, in July 2014.
The trio is made up of Kim Shattuck, who plays lead vocals and guitar; Ronnie Barnett on bass and backing vocals; and Roy McDonald on drums. The Muffs came together in 1990 and have been making catchy classics ever since, and will add Whoop Dee Doo to that collection on July 29. They have had songs end up on major soundtracks, including their cover of “Kids of America” on the soundtrack for Clueless. They most recently released Kaboodle in 2011, a collection of singles, b-sides, compilation & assorted stray tracks.
In 2013, Kim Shattuck ended her time as bassist for Pixies after she had replaced original bassist Kim Deal. This summer The Muffs will make several appearances, including Oakland’s Burger Boogaloo in July and Santa Ana’s Burger a-Go-Go in August.
